OpenAI requires supported purchase and issuer locations. Mainland China is not currently listed. Replacing a mainland-issued UnionPay card with a mainland-issued Visa or Mastercard does not change the issuing region.
What to ask the bank
For an attempted payment, collect its time, amount, currency, redacted card identifier and checkout message. Ask whether the issuer received it, required authentication and recorded a decline, pending authorization or settled charge. Do not treat bank support as a merchant acceptance guarantee.
Check support for the relevant online recurring transaction, genuine billing details and available credit. Correct bank settings do not remove provider eligibility rules. Do not use a fabricated address to misrepresent issuer location.
Compare costs only for an eligible route
Check the foreign-currency price, settlement rate, taxes and disclosed fees separately. Use your own card’s terms rather than a fee percentage copied from another bank. Card setup costs or prepaid balances are additional exposure before purchase eligibility is established.
For an RMB service, compare the complete order price for the same plan and duration. Confirm availability and fulfillment requirements first, then verify the subscription on your account. A payment confirmation alone is not evidence of activation.
